One lucky family is looking forward to many years of great fun on the water after winning a ready-to-launch, $40,000 family boating package at the biggest-ever Gold Coast International Marine Expo in May.
The complete boating package – the largest prize offered in the award-winning Expo’s six-year history – included a Quintrex 490 Cruiseabout with brand-new outboard, trailer and safety equipment, as well as all applicable registrations.
The winner, Marissa McNamara of Manly West in Brisbane, purchased her Expo tickets online to secure the brilliant boating prize supplied by Expo partners Surf Coast Marine and Broadwater Boating Centre.
“They’ve thought of everything … it’s the complete package,” said Marissa, a marine biologist who attended with her husband Sacha Desmarais and seven-year-old daughter, Oceane.
“We have always known about the Expo and we were very excited to be attending for the first time in 2016.
“We had been talking about buying our first boat for a while and we were in fact one of the first people through the Expo gates on the Saturday morning.
“We looked at all the boats on display and we were very impressed by the extensive range – we’ll definitely be back for the Expo next year (25-28 May 2017).”
Expo – held right in the heart of Australia’s Boating Industry Capital: the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at Coomera – showcased over 600 yachts and boats on land and on the water, as well as a vast array of marine engines, equipment and accessories across a 3km display circuit.
Surf Coast Marine’s Paul Banning said he was very pleased to have helped Marissa, Sacha and Oceane fulfill their dreams of cruising Moreton Bay, Tangalooma and Peel Island.
“The Quintrex Cruiseabout 490 is a fantastic and versatile little bow-rider that’s perfect for exploring our beautiful waterways as a family, or as a fisherman,” said Paul, who operated sea trials from Quintrex Island at the Expo.
“We had a very strong sales result at the Expo and the ongoing enquiry across our entire range is also very encouraging.”
Expo Event & Marketing Manager Emma Brown said the visitor experience was paramount for the continued growth of ‘the boat show with so much more’.
“Expo’s aim has always been to create a boat show experience that is entirely different – one that is relevant, exciting and engaging – with record numbers through the gates this year and very positive feedback from visitors confirms that we certainly delivered in 2016,” she said.
“Congratulations to Marissa, Sacha and Oceane for winning this fantastic prize, and thanks to Surf Coast Marine and Broadwater Boating Centre for supporting our efforts to help our boating community enjoy all the rich and rewarding benefits of the boating life.”
