Applications to exhibit at the 2016 Gold Coast International Marine Expo are now open to the wider marine industry, with marina and display precinct sites and indoor pavilion displays already in strong demand from past exhibitors.
Event & Marketing Manager Emma Milne said the successful Expo’s first right of refusal period for existing exhibitors expired last week and sites were now available on a first-come basis for 2016’s massive showcase of all things aquatic.
“Expo provides past exhibitors the opportunity to preserve their space as a way of returning the loyalty they have shown to us for the past five years … and the confirmations to date have been very encouraging,” said Ms Milne.
“We’ve also already received considerable interest from new exhibitors who saw the great success of last year’s Expo and now see real value in coming on board as we continue to grow ‘the boat show with so much more’,” she said.
In 2016, the truly unique Expo will be held from 19-22 May, again right in the heart of the biggest recreational boat-builders and shipyards in the Southern Hemisphere, at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at Coomera.
Ms Milne said the both new and existing exhibitors could see the far-reaching benefits of an industry-run marine exposition that continues to reinvent the concept of a traditional boat show.
“Last year Expo – our biggest event in five years – showcased over 500 boats both on the water and on the hardstand, and over 230 major industry exhibitors displayed over 300 marine brands who all directly benefited from in excess of $50 million in sales activity generated as a result of Expo,” she said.
“Last year we had over 17,000 qualified visitors across the four event days and a visitors’ survey revealed 95 per cent were impressed with the diversity of marine displays at Expo. Additionally, 91% of Expo visitors stated they would recommend Expo to their boating friends.
“A total of 22% of 2015 Expo visitors spent more than two days enjoying the vast array of marine displays and family fun attractions on offer, and 41% resided outside the Gold Coast, spending additionally on accommodation, dining and whilst enjoying everything else the city has to offer.”
Ms Milne said positive exhibitor feedback after the 2015 Expo had prompted a number of new and exciting initiatives for 2016, which were announced in October to past exhibitors to help make the visitor experience even better.
“We want to keep the Expo fresh and fun so in 2016 we will have just the one entry and exit to assist with traffic flow and to ensure visitors do not miss anything across our giant 3km display circuit, and easily enjoy the interactive demonstrations and family fun attractions every 15 minutes throughout our action-packed program,” she said.
“We will also have new Expo opening times of 9am-4pm Thursday to Sunday and a number of new ‘precincts’ for like-minded exhibitors such as engine and electronics manufacturers, accessories and equipment suppliers.
“There’s very high interest in our new indoor pavilion with its raised and carpeted flooring and shell scheme displays … and spaces there are filling very quickly.”
Expo 2016 will also have a number of special sea trial berths on the marina so visitors can try before they buy their new boat.
“We will also feature a new alfresco dining experience precinct so the Expo will be even more enjoyable for both visitors and exhibitors,” said Ms Milne.
The Expo has also just welcomed a new and significant international brand as a major partner, with Volvo Penta adding to the growing list of world-leading marine industry brands and professionals committed to fostering jobs and growth throughout the wider Australian marine industry.
